Pete the Cat Activity

My kids love Pete the Cat, so, for Halloween we read the book Pete the Cat Trick or Pete. We would read it every other morning after we did the calendar and days of the week. My kids really enjoyed pointing out all the different things Pete discovered while trick or treating. In the book, Pete uses a flashlight as he is trick or treating, and shines the light when he thinks there is something scary.

I got the same images from the book, printed, laminated, and cut them to stick on the door. I purchased 2 small flashlights from the Dollar Tree for my kids. I began the activity by reading the book and when Pete the Cat would discover something new with his flashlight my kids then pointed with their flashlight at the images I printed out. My kids loved this! it was a fun way to focus on vocabulary and counting.

Using a book for an activity can be both fun and easy! You can choose any book that you know your kids love and create your own activities to go along with it.
