Halloween Sensory/Science Activity
Having 2 children who are 7 and 3 can be challenging when it comes to creating at-home activities. I find that creating different sensory activities can be great for many different ages and allows for children to play and learn together, no matter the age difference!
For this fun halloween activity I purchased a bundle of witch cauldrons and pumpkin buckets from amazon, and the vinegar, baking soda, and food coloring from my local grocery store. I used trays that I purchased from Target a year ago to contain the overflow of the vineger and baking soda.
For my 3 year, he got to experience how vinegar reacts with baking soda as well as using his senses to explore the smell and bubbles that were created. My son does have a speech delay so it was also a great opportunity to focus on his vocabulary.
My 7 year old also enjoyed this activity and it was a great mini science lesson for her. We talked about the reaction ofthe vinegar and baking soda. She explored the texture of the baking soda that was left in the cauldrons and pumpkin buckets and had many question which led to a lot of conversation about the activity.
So, if you are ever looking for an activity for a mixed age group of kids or for your own children, definitely give this a try! You can also use different materials to pour the baking soda and vinegar in. Make this activity any theme you like!
